How Home Lifts will Save the World...

At Wessex, we think home lifts are pretty great, but could they, one day, save the world?

Problem 1: Our population is growing

Global population growth amounts to around 83 million people per year, and it's estimated that by the end of the century, the population of planet earth will be at 11.2 billion...

Problem 2: Our population is aging

In 2017, the global population aged 60 years or over numbered 962 million; over double what it was in 1980 where there were 382 million. Modern medicine simply allows more people to live longer.

Problem 3: We're running out of space

The UK percentage of new-builds that are bungalows went from 7% in 1996 to just 1% in 2014, whilst in the same timeframe, flats and maisonettes went from 15% to 33%. This is because more people can live in the same amount of land when flats are constructed, compared to bungalows. Combined with growing populations, the upshot is that bungalows will not be viable in the future...
